Explore Freely on Solid Ground

An independent studio building apps, games and the web, on solid ground. We make our own mobile apps and games, build websites and web apps for clients, and host on the Internet Computer.

Website work

Websites & web applications

Sites and web apps, for clients and of our own, with no WordPress, plugins or theme licences, so there is nothing to renew. The stores and data sites are plain PHP and SQLite and deploy automatically when the code changes. New sites go straight onto the Internet Computer, where a small site costs about two dollars a year to host.

Tanzania Peak & Safari

Guiding & trip planning — mbeta.org

Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and safari guiding with Baraka Tarimo. Seven climbing routes with day-by-day itineraries, prices, planning guides and guest reviews.

Outcome: off WordPress and four page-builder and gallery plugins. The guide publishes reviews and photo albums from his phone.

Silverado Parts

Online parts store — silveradoparts.com

Tested used parts for Chevy and GMC trucks, searchable by year and model. New parts are photographed and listed from a phone.

Outcome: off WordPress and WooCommerce. The site and the eBay store sell from one inventory, so a one-of-a-kind part can never sell twice.

Live

Gulf Coast Velocity Data

Data store — velocitydata.com

A catalog of Gulf Coast well data: velocity and directional surveys, well curves and more. Find a well by search or on the map, pay at checkout and download the files straight away.

Outcome: rebuilt from what the Wayback Machine had kept of the old site. Buying and delivery are now automatic, with no one in the loop.

Since I'm Gone

Our own web app — sinceimgone.com

Write a letter, record a video or leave a few words for someone, and choose when it arrives: on a date you pick, or after you've died. By email, text, printed letter or video.

A message for after you're gone is sent only when your check-ins have stopped, someone you chose has confirmed it, and a grace period has passed. Website first, then a mobile app. The public pages are up as a preview on the Internet Computer; accounts open later.

Our games

Games

A small collection. Each game is self-contained and built with whatever suits it, not one house engine. They share one player account and one wallet at games.roamrock.com, the RoamRock Games portal.

WorldExplorer

In development

Real-world exploration — Unity

The Earth starts out buried under a dark mist, and the places you travel through are uncovered and stay uncovered. The streets, parks, lakes and hills come from real maps, rebuilt as a toy-like world. Follow beacons of light to real landmarks, meet the critters, fish the ponds and fill in your map.

Coming early 2027.

Maze of Madness

In development

3D labyrinth expedition — Unity, in the browser

Fall into the Grotto, take what you need from the equipment table, and head into a dark labyrinth that is generated fresh for every expedition. Find your way by flashlight and torchlight. Exploration first, combat second.

An early build plays in the browser at games.roamrock.com now. The full game comes in early 2027.

Our apps

Mobile & utility apps

Everyday tools for your phone, with no account to create and no ads or analytics.

Data Hodler

In development

Market research & screening — Android

Daily screening across the NASDAQ-traded universe and a trend-first view of the crypto top 1000. Market data is cached in on-device SQLite and the analysis runs on the phone, so reopening the app reads yesterday's completed work instead of re-running the market.

Produces research signals, not investment advice.

CallWall

In development

Call filtering & blocking — Android

Filters you write yourself, by area code, prefix or exact number. Every unknown number sits in one of three honest states — Unknown, Allowed, Blocked — and you can see exactly which rule decided a call.

No account, no cloud, no ads, no analytics. CallWall never asks for your contacts, your call log or your messages.

SignalRadar

In development

The radio around you — Android

See which radio services are around you, from public safety and aviation to broadcast and business radio, and the towers they use. Each one is explained in plain language first, with the technical detail a tap away.

Built from public FCC and federal records; anything that couldn't be verified was left out. An early proof of concept.

Where this runs

Built on the Internet Computer

This site is served by the Internet Computer (ICP), a public network that hosts web pages and apps directly. There is no web server and no hosting plan behind it.

No server to run

The page lives in a canister, a small program on the ICP network. There is no machine to patch, no operating system to update and no hosting account to renew.

Every response is certified

The network signs what it serves, and the gateway checks that signature before the page reaches you. A copy that was tampered with on the way is refused, not shown.

Under $2 a year

A canister pays for itself in cycles, ICP's unit of compute. At this site's size it burns about 1.3 trillion a year, which costs less than two dollars.

How we build it

You own it

Plain code you can read, keep and move. No platform lock-in, no plugin subscriptions, no theme licences, and nothing that stops working when a vendor changes its terms.

Private by default

Our phone apps keep your data on your device, with no accounts, ads or analytics SDKs. The sites we build collect only what an order or an enquiry needs.

Plainly described

Something that is not ready says so. We would rather ship a small honest feature than a large claim.

Work with us

What we can build for you

You talk directly to the people building it, and you keep the code. Tell us what you need and we will tell you plainly whether we are the right fit.

Websites & online stores

Fast sites you own outright, with checkout, downloads, inventory and marketplace sync, and an admin you can use from a phone.

Maps & location data

Map search over your own data, real-world geography in apps and games, and the data pipelines that feed them.

Android apps

Native apps that work offline and keep data on the device, from utilities to research tools.

Games

Unity games and interactive prototypes, from a clickable design mock to a playable build.

Hosting on the Internet Computer

Move a site onto ICP: no server to maintain, certified responses and running costs measured in dollars a year.
